International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

We need Chooks man for combs.  He can spot a problem from 3000 miles away!  Recently he critiqued a bird that had small "m"s on the tips of the comb, I have also seen bent points.  I will put together some photos.  He will answer the points question on the Cuckoo but he will remind us...... "the French SOP"

@Braxton Brigade

You can never let "fault finders" determine how you will proceed with your breeding program.  A true judge is not a fault finder.  There are no perfect birds.  You have to take into account the whole bird and weigh him against the SOP.  You are not competing against other birds at the show.  You are competing against the SOP.  Snowbird wrote a post and said they just knocked off a point or two for an extra point on the comb.  (Can't remember the quote verbatim)

Right I knew it wasnt much they knocked off for excess points, like 0.5 points per extra point on the comb I think I heard from somewhere. And we will go by the French SOP. I was just curious about the points thing in case I ever get to show some birds.

The OEs aren't laying yet but I do have some pretty eggs. My FRF eggs are beautiful! These are on the counter right now.
Gorgeous! Im looking forward to my BCMs' first eggs and my lone EE. I need to see your OE when they start laying. Eye candy for sure!

I think vulture hocks are the lesser of these two evils.

Sorry Calgary but I personally wouldn't use any for breeding. But out of them #3 is the closest but will be alot of work to correct tail, hackle color, comb. Just my opinion. I'm pretty new to breeding but I also like the taste of homegrown so I'm kinda picky and am just going for easy fixes.
