I would be really grateful if someone could evaluate this boy for me.
Thanks.

Chooks man is the real expert, he and this thread would be the one to ask if you plan to breed to the French SOP.
Redbanks is his diligent student and will surely provide a opinion when able.
I like the idea of posting on both threads in case someone runs across one but not the other, but this one is far more active than the other from what I have seen.
I think snowbird is one of the originals on that thread and is still around quite a bit, you will get more people tomorrow, I believe many people only get on this site in this mornings or late at night.
Chooks is very wise to the ways of Marans breeding, he seems to know the magical way around every fault and flaw.
It can all (within reason) be solved with time and passion for the breed.
I read Braxton B's critique of your cockerel.I would be really grateful if someone could evaluate this boy for me.
Thanks.

I read Braxton B's critique of your cockerel.
He has beautiful copper color on his hackles and a nice red shoulder.
He is very dark or the pictures are very dark.
I can't tell much from the photos. His tail is held too high. His body is triangular. He looks high up on leg.
His leg color looks good. Looks like light grey with pink showing thru. Nice feathering.
His beak color looks good but I can't tell about his eye color.
The pullet next to him in the head shot looks like she has little or no copper.
I am trying to go back and forth between this thread and the other to look at the pictures.
I am so glad you posted here. If you repost pictures of him please look at our post #1407. We will be able to give a much better critique with the right pictures. Looking forward to seeing all of your cockerels and some of your pullets/hens too!
Thank you. I will try and get those.
