Keeping everyone straight as to a breeding program will be a big challenge to me. Keeping track of their prodigy from who, etc.
It sounds so confusing. But that is why i am banding everyone. Im sure once i actually get started it will not be as hard as it seems to keep everything organized.
Writing everything in a notebook right from egg color and hatch. Band every one. Pay attention to type, head to toes, etc. See....ive been doing everything you say from years back on this thread
But YOU have so many more to keep track of. I dont know how you do it.
breeding is easy but we make it complicated . most of us try to breed from flock of hens penned with some rooster they like , wrong practice .
if we breed from pairs and trios ,we will get better result .we will know what need to be done each year .
what need to be done @ the start of building of any line is very different then the work needed to maintain it .
test mating is the best tool to breed good chooks ,
selecting the pairing is very important ,they have to be compatible . what they produce is more important than how they look then selves .we are not showing .we are breeding .different philosophy .
