International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Bahaha yea.

There will be a lot of culling i bet.

Oh, and i did weigh them before putting them in the bator. 12 above 65g, 3 just below that.

The one thing i remembered as i was freaking out.

She uses an old still air hovabator, 35-40% humidity start to finish and gets great hatches.
My past experience showed, that it is best to breed the eggs of hens starting earliest age 2-3 years and older, as the egg yolk to albumen ratio is much better, thus allowing for a better result in hatching rates and bigger and healthier chicks.

All her marans hens were 1-13 years old.
13 years! I saw her and that old lady waddled and hobbled right along with the younger ones. She was about done though.

What about these tails? The ones on the right are leaned over getting a drink? Sorry I was gonna get more pictures but someone showed up at the house. I love this line, a lot of hackle copper, smaller comb, I just want to get them alittle bigger in size.

My kids are to big to use the pool so now the chooks got it to dust bath in.

I love those tails. Pretty marans.

I have never paid attention to a chickens tail as much as i have in the past 12 months.

It may be an issue with this line #2.
Not as bad as line #1, but still, they are a bit high.

I am hoping this new line that i am hatching can fix that.
Thank you, I’m really excited about the offsprings this year.
