International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

LL

this black pullet/hen has a nice body balance ,strait legs well apart of each other , excellent tail well closed and thin at the top . nice black under fluff ./down .

if I had this 2 I ll start 2 different line from them without adding any thing to them for the rest of life .

this photos i ll call it technical picture ,showing a pair of BCM ,how how the rooster is going to to fix the color and how the hen/pullet is going to fix the tail .

you have so many different combination .plan well .

You have a way of making a person feel so good about their birds. Thank you. So many of us don't realize we have good BCMs already. I do know that if you had these two you would make beautiful BCMs and then you would create GCMs, Hercules, and all kinds of other Marans. You would never be content! LOL Too much passion for the breed. Will you help me plan? That way I will get off to a get start. Pictures soon!

One of the things I do is after the first week is to tag everyone without a tail (the boys) or I put all the boys in one bin and all the girls in another. All of my boys have been slow feathering and do not get tails as quickly as the girls. Always fun to see if I am right. Cute chicks! I want some. Are these LP?

I like them a lot ,they are less penguiny ( less white on them). uniform

doesn t look to me they are just mixture on different chooks from different line ,this are well bred ,some body has put some time to breed them ,they are uniform , that take a time to achieve .

her the note you need to take at this age=

1) over all body type ; divided into 2 category . group one the PLUM . group 2 the SKINNY one
2) the one with a feathered shanks and the ones without. color of they shank too all black or black shank and pink toes
3)comb color , Normal PINK or DARK.
4) colors of they beaks . light colored OR dark colored .
5) deformity .
6) over all vigor.

this sort of note will help you in the future to select the good ones .

These birds were a special purchase for me, from a friend. Don Lee has been breeding BCM for awhile and I would like to call him a mentor. He recommended that I get my start from Brian Parks. I am very honored to have these birds. However, Brian has a Bev Davis line, a Little Peddler line and his own farm line that he breeds pure and keeps separated and marks chics and eggs accordingly. I understand that the decisions that I make now will make them my own. I am truly honored to own these birds. We will see what we have in 6 months to a year. Thank you Chooks Man for your comments. Tom

Hey everyone! Took a few pics of a couple of my Black Coppers yesterday just for fun. For reference, I will be referring to my Louisiana cockerel as Cooper and my favorite FRF cockerel as Rusty.

Rusty - his tail is FINALLY coming in. It's going to be high set but he's still handsome!
