Yes.... you are very lucky. 29.... Lord I wish and 10 acres ......more than enough room. You got the time to become great. Don't worry so much..... they are chickens and a very inexpensive farm creature comparatively speaking. You are welcome to some of my chicks down the road. I just haven't started yet. Keep reading..... listen to experience...... when you make a decision try not to second guess yourself. Everyone here wants you to be successful. I like your pullets very much..... believe in yourself and your birds.well I'm only 29 and got 10 acres in the country, if the Lord wills it I'll have plenty of time and space to get this right. I just wish I could find some decent birds to start with.

Can you post pictures of your other cockerels? Maybe you have one that will better compliment your pullets. Can you read post 1407 and post pictures of your cockerels and pullets?
Yes.... what you want to do is have the hen and the rooster compliment each other. For example, a colorful rooster with an overmelanized hen for better colored chicks.I have these 2 black copper marans, im not experienced with SOP for marans but from what i have seen I'd believe that the rooster has to much of a light copper color(i believe it's suppose to be a darker copper color), as for the hen i believe she doesn't have enough copper color on her. So my question is if i bred them together would it even it out in the chicks or does it not work like that?

If you would like us to take a look at your BCMs read post #1407 on this thread and post pictures. We love pictures and it also helps all of us to understand the SOP better.I have these 2 black copper marans, im not experienced with SOP for marans but from what i have seen I'd believe that the rooster has to much of a light copper color(i believe it's suppose to be a darker copper color), as for the hen i believe she doesn't have enough copper color on her.
