Not too shabby for Hatchery quality.Beautiful!
Those are very good looking egg that is the shade I was hoping for. I’m sure I’ll get there eventually. I guess it means I have to hatch more eggs and keep tryingCase in point... Joannies 1st 6 since starting back up. Dated left to right. Yesterday's being her darkest so far.

My guess is Oreo the BR.I’ll attach a couple comb shots from today if anyone wants to try to guess based on comb development
I have been expecting her to start laying for a while. She has had a bright red comb and wattles for a few weeks and I have caught her practicing her egg song a couple times. She is my first barred rock so I have never seen a barred rock egg I always thought they were light in color. I’m sure I’ll figure it out soon enough. My guess is Oreo the BR.
Pretty speckles no matter who laid it.![]()
Wow! That's great!View attachment 3718161View attachment 3718162One other possibility is that Gena my Jersey Giant started laying again. She stopped laying in October when she went broody. Then she went into her molt and started dropping feathers. Her feathers have grown completely back in but she hasn’t really got her big girl comb and wattles back like when she was laying. Attached is a picture of an egg she laid just before she went broody and one of her today. Her eggs didn’t alone out this speckled but once in a while I would get a really pretty one from her.
I have 2 GLW and one SLW one of the GLW, Goldie is currently on the back end of a hard molt still not laying yet. The other Lacy lays the long skinny ones in the top row. The SLW lays the bottom row sometimes lightly speckled but never as dark base color as the new one.Wow! That's great!
See keep us guessing all the time. lol
What about that GLW? I noticed her in the other picture too.
