not too big neither small . not arched .straight and long ,well lifted from the back ( Lobe)
the upper part of the blade of the comb( the start of the point) and the lower part of the base and the lobe are parallel .almost straight line .not arched

the back of the roo's comb has sort of dents in this photo. does it mean it is ok?

@Chooks man - Antonio's son is so nice. If he doesn't fall apart he will be the one of the best I have - totally by accident with no interference from me! LOL I will take pics soon.

Yay! Can't wait to see pics!! I love watching youngsters grow and fill out. It is crazy how Marans cockerels change. It costs more on feed, but it pays to grow them out all the way until making up your mind. I may have to pick up a second job to feed all these chickens!:lol::lol:

I can't pick out a good chick.... I don't know enough. I have to wait until they are about 2.;)

That's true, but some faults are disqualifications like a double point, S shape, etc. My birds have a lot of those things going on. I have more bad combs than good combs that's for sure!

But your bad combs have minor flaws..... no disqualifying problems do they?

yes the upper part of the comb lobe of this BCM rooster has a dent . it is actually the end of the lobe but is not in the right place ( at the end) .
the French say it is untidy lobe ( not refined) but will not loose the point .
French look for the harmony of the point along the comb not the number and the want the lobe to be well lifted from the head( nap).

the last four look different. you cannot see it but they are speckled. maybe the greater number of light eggs just means I have more girls who started to lay. there is a hope that their eggs will get darker.

the pullet responsible for the upper row is class . well happy for you ,
you bred your pullet from scratch .Bravo
you done well .

need to catch her and name her too .
