the golden leakage is easier to fix .

parasitic white is nightmare to fully breed out .take many generation and a lot of back crossing to the correct chook.

thanks. I am giving away 2 cockerels today. 1 has golden leakage and no white feathers and another one has white in his tail + a lot of white underfluff. so I will give the one with the leakage to my friends in athens who have a lot of dark pullets. I am going to exchange hatching eggs with them in the future.

my friends got a cockerel as a gift and as he was said to be show quality they happily offered it to me. they were shocked when I told them he was a soup quality. he has huge side sprigs on both sides of the comb, look like cow horns. I am still getting him and he will be the very first marans that I will eat.

Just wanted to share updated pics of our GP, Waylon. He is a very large, energetic, and playful pup. His bestfriends are my son and his cat, Tom. He is now 4.5 months old and is a big boy.. and will be even more massive as an adult. Our future protector. :)

He is beautiful and looks so sweet. I thought they were more stoic. I could have used him last night. Antonio lured a little Ameraucana hen into the shed. The door is never completely closed. I shut the coop door, didn't count chickens and they were left out in the shed. I heard a terrible death screech in the middle of the night but then I didn't hear anything else so I thought one of them just fell off the roost. It would have been too late if I had gone out. I went out this morning to let them out of the coop. Heard a racket in the shed, opened the door and Antonio flew right into my face, then I saw the pile of feathers by the door opening and feathers clinging to the sides of the door. Whatever it was grabbed the little hen and pulled her out of the shed. I am thinking fox, I saw some scat a few days ago not far from the coop. I hate to say this but if I had to lose one (to my own negligence) I am glad it was the little Ameraucana. She is the noisiest hen I have and I wouldn't have wanted to lose one of the BCM. There is always chicken tragedy waiting around the corner.

Here is the one I think I like best.

I like them both very much and I think I like the one you do best. I was thinking because you like HP and Fawkes, maybe Feltons Fanciful Fowl and a kind of dragony rooster logo versus a cute one. That's what happens when you ask my opinion! Sorry....

Wish you were closer..... I could give you about 7 more to eat.

sorry for your loss. glad antonio is alive.

I don't think fox would leave antonio alive. foxes attack every single chicken without mercy.

Yes but the shed does not have one inch of walking space. Antonio was up high on a shelf. Perhaps you are right, maybe possum or coon. I have them in great numbers. I think Antonio got in the shed but couldn't figure out how to get out, he is a big rooster.

I love that idea! Unfortunately my husband doesnt like HP like we do so I doubt he would like it very much. I will run it by him though! Since I will be showing his birds too (the Games), I want him to agree on the name.
