Side sprigs and folded comb. Good copper and feet. Good badly shapenand angle. Keep or cull?

I dont want to tell you to cull her. This group advocates in working with the stock we have and correcting faults. However, if you have nice birds that dont have side sprigs, it might serve you better to use them as breeders and not the ones with side sprigs to save you some headache of having to cull for more side sprigs in their offspring. You can still keep the hens with side sprigs as layers in another pen. Culling doesnt necessarily have to mean eating, just removing from the breeding pen. If you dont have any hens without side sprigs, breed them this year and use only the offspring without side sprigs for future breeding.

A side sprig is a point that juts out the side of the comb, usually on the posterior lobe (back part of the comb).

And my birds are not free from recessive faults so dont fret too much over side sprigs. My A line carries vulture hocks. I just cull any that show vulture hocks and move on. If you breed a bird showing a recessive trait instead of carrying it you have a higher chance of producing chicks showing the recessive trait, best of my understanding.

Please excuse my ignorance. What exactly are vulture hocks?
