International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

I had a visual today of how Olive Eggers produce green eggs. I painted an oil lamp this color. (Blue Egg Gene) Then I put a coat of brown wax (Marans style) on it. Viola! Green

that's how I bought a house with some land - very cheap, nobody wanted it, lol. they are jealous now when I renovated it and got my lovely chickens.

btw, the lamp is gorgeous. if I was near you I would be your regular customer.

Good day I m waiting for some marans breeder friend of mine to drop 3 working cockerels .
1 Wheaten
1 White ( speckeled )
1 Blue copper from the import line .

we are swapping . I m giving his
1 trio ( the only one I have ) of silver wheaten ( I ll make more this year I still have a parent stock )
plus 1 Blue copper pullets.

I ll post photos of them later today.

A few of my pullets have 1 or 2 white wing feathers still at 8 weeks. Do those fall out eventually or are they culls?

I was worried about mine as well, they molted out around 13 weeks

I have a BCM pullet that has been laying for about a month, she is 24 1/2 weeks old and she has gone broody. Is this normal for this breed?

Can't wait to see them. Do you think the Silver colored Marans are easier than the red brown? What I mean by that is, is it as difficult to get the color right? Does the color affect egg color as much?
