@Chooks man - I have a question for you, I am asking because I have FRF birds too, as a matter of fact all my birds are FRF. These FRF birds are a cross between the Greenfire and Little Peddler lines. That makes my FRF birds a total outcross. That outcross produced better birds than the parents but it is still an outcross. If I take them to a different line that would be two generations of outcross. So should I take Woodrow (Antonio son) back to my hens next?
you don t need to out cross any thing RedBank .
you have 9 hens and 1 gorgeous rooster ,you have a type ,hackle color ,shanks feathers .good colored eggs .
what you need to do is hatch chicks 10 out of each hen ( total of 90 /100 ) and see the how many different type ofchicks you ll get .
you ll be amazed about how much variation your chooks will throw . a lot to chose from
Because you chooks are F1 outcross they will throw an F2 generation .a lot variation .
chooks man
SP Woodrow is too young to count him for breeding yet .
After this molt hatch some chicks please .
for me last breeding season I worked with a Zambezi over 6 BCM hens and I hatched over 120 chicks from them .
I m amazed about the variation I got .
some hens produced great type pullet but not cockerel
others produced great type on both but with many other fault ( White ears lobe . absence of the red shoulders ..etc.......
all the cockerel I m keeping are from Norway all the others are going to the pot ( half of them all ready going )
So Norway is going to be identify as Dam of sires EX95
a pullets I ll keep the best type .hackle marking and dark egg layer regardless witch hens they come from
a lot people this day talk about culling but no many of them talk about hatching and razing chooks tell they are at leat 6 months old .THAT IS A SECRET . not working with a perfect chooks .
