her daughter with Zambezi are stunning ,they lay the darkest egg compare to they half sisters .

here a photo of her son Norambezi , Best out of the 5 brothers on comb .
his comb is very good .
they are penned together now ,they eggs will go the incubator next week .

his weaknesses are .
the luck of redness of the shoulder color - the pattern is there but not a quality of the copper ( rich red )
the other thing is the quality of his under fluff . dark grey in some places rather than all pure black .
mating him to his Dam is not going to solve this issue ,but is going to reinforce the dark egg gene and the quality of the body type plus the comb .

I found the type of hen I described for you in the last post for Apollo
only problem she is very far away from him ,not even in the same country .

just to give an idea how the pairing work .

Put her on a plane and ship her to me! Hahaha!!

I will try to match Apollo up to a pullet similar to your yours.. he's too handsome not to use in a breeding pen. A hen for him needs a nice long back, thats for sure.

I love your chunky Marans! Big gorgeous girls! If mine were chunkier, there would be more meat when we eat the culls! Im sure we'll have plenty to eat in the spring. Lol!

all her cockerels ( the cull ) carcasses where 2.5 /2.9 Kg at 6 months of age ,when they where done .a lot of high quality meat .
I sale them to y Asian friend for $40 .they are well pleased to get they habd on some thing like that .

Norway is an asset to me .
not a show hen but a rustic marans farm hen .productive and she pays the rent and feed .
her egg and progeny are well desired by my clients .

breed from the pullet with a 2.5 Kg weight at 6 months minimum . that will help you to restore the mass

Not to worry ,in a couples of years time .more or less .I ll have my export license and I ll send you guys eggs from my line ,they will be better bred any way .
for now they are just a working mess .

@kfelton0002 .
Apollo is all class and elegance .
mated to the right hen ,he will produce Faultless BCM progeny .
you only need to find him the real much .only one hen not a Dz .

Fluffy is not his hens for sure .

to make is easy for you ,I ll give you a description of this special hen .
Big and long body type
faultless comb
very long flat back
thin pointed small tail at the right angle.
minimum feathers on the shank .
if you have this hen ,you are a winner my friend

chooks man

the rest he ll take care of .

Looks like I will be taking some head shots today to see which of the girls has the best comb. I think Queen would pair well with him, they are of the same line and half brother/sister. Queen has the longest back and lowest tail of any of my pullets. She's a tad on the small side though. I will weigh her today if I get time, she just reached point of lay.

sound like a good much to me .
don t to worry to much about her mass if they are from the same line , because he is correct in that point .
the minimum weight you ll expect from her at POL is 2.3Kg ,by the time she mature ,she ll add more weight

I read something very similar to how you just described Norway in the American SOP. It says the Marans hen should have the character of a rustic farm hen, giving an impression of solidarity and strength without being too course. Norway is pure gold if she throws big meaty offspring. The birds we butchered over the summer all had puny breasts. I definitely plan to work on that.

That would be fabulous! I would love to have some of your big chunky chooks to work with in the future. :love
