International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Haha ok probably not such a difference when you take the scale into account, I guess you had -2C? Seems very cold for Florida! And we had around 17F :)
I love the international part of this list. Communicating with people all over the world! It is amazing isn't it, this technology.
Are there a lot of Marans in Sligo? All those beautiful Gaelic names!

It may be silly, but I'm going with the JL bar farm for me. It's my great great grandfather's cattle brand, and my dad still uses it, right side brand. We still use the same branding iron he did over 100 years ago on the same ranch. It's a two iron brand, the J and L are joined.View attachment 1209900[/QUOTE

you can t beet 100 years of an established name .
what they stand for J & L ?

I think Jake your rooster if he see you come with your Iron branding bar he ll jump the fence and run for his life .hahahaaaaaaaaa.

it is nice to keep the originality .
I ll do the same if I was you .

The J L stands for Joseph Lancelle, my great great grandfather's name. He had no sons to take the ranch, so it passed through daughters for several generations, but it is still there. My little farm is about 2 hours away from the original ranch, but it is much closer to people. The ranch is in a place so isolated, there are less than 500 people in that whole county! I'm hoping one of my children will take interest in the ranch for my dad since I can't. I still have to work out details.
