Well I can take credit for choosing the birds I kept.don t be hard on your self .
you done well , a hand full of gorgeous chooks better than a tone of rubbish
now you have seen what your flock are throwing .you can plan a better breeding program to suit your self .

Here are a couple of our New Years babies. Looks like I'm going to have some boys to choose from! You guys will have to help me with that of course. Not everyone was cooperative enough to get in the picture.

Young cockerels can be brutal.it is not a good practice to leave a cockerel with a pullets before they mature and ready to breed from .
I do leave a some gentle cockerels with a pullets at a high density .1 cockerel to 15/20 pullets .
I like my pullets to mature fast and nice without any physical delay .
the cockerels can be penned together at the young age ,so they don t fight as much ,no girls around .
