@chickengr I had something similar to that to happen before with a Gamecock. We keep them tied to barrels with leg hitches and once a cock got his cord hung just right on the barrel so he was dangling off by his leg. He was like that several hours probably. He limped a few days but was fine. I also had a Game hen to get her leg/spur caught in the wire of a pen when she somehow flew up at the wire and got hung upside down. They get themselves into some weird situations sometimes. Hope your hen pulls through!

lol..those birds can get themselves into trouble sometimes. I had a pullet get herself wedged in between a small coop and a chain length fence one time. Hubby had to pull outward on the fence while I worked her out. She was scared but fine. We fixed it so it wouldn't happen again but I never dreamed a bird would try to get in such a small space. Don't know what she was thinking.

chickengr- you're having some bad luck, things will turn around. I hope your hen gets on the mend.

marchick- hope your BC hen get's back to herself soon, too. Ahh, the blues, they are so pretty!

Electric was out for 6 hours. Is there any hope for my eggs that have been in the Incubator 8 days? When incubator came back on it read 80 degrees.

6 hours should be fine .

most of my pullets are laying now ,good thing .
a bad thing is ,the darkest eggs are #5 .a lot are around #4 .
both my friends I bought the choks from .they breed for a type .it is a reason why all my new chooks are gorgeous .but they lost the dark egg colour .
that what happen when peoples start to breed to show .they focus too much on body type and body colour ,they forget the most important thing about marans breed .DARK EGG LAYER .
the dark egg genes are there but need to bring them back out . I need to mate all the sibling together to recombine the genes in different manner .
I need to get some roosters from a friend of mine .he breed for dark eggs ,

Doing a few more hatches for Easter, got the most silvery white chick I've seen yet! Just pale yellow on the back of the head and neck, mostly silver on the belly and back... I'm excited to see how this one goes
