Every line is carrying hidden genes that are undesirable. Once you start inbreeding and line breeding the bad traits will surface (side sprigs, split wing, rudimentary outer toes.. all of which have cropped up out of Duke from HM and my hens). You just have to hard cull and move on. Dont sweat it. :)
you forgot the most importante thing HATCH A LARGE NUMBER OF ANY PAIR 20/25 TO BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT THEY ARE MADE OFF .
any hatch number smaller than that ,it is a game of chances not accuracy/breeding .

@marchick chooks will help your line great time .they are compatable .
what is the easy way .shipped eges or a live cockerel?

We are not sure. I think it's around $130 to ship live birds. Depending on weight and size of box. I was told anything over a 12x12 is more now. Eggs around 20 ish dollars for shipping. Price of box. I would have to go to yakima to ship live birds.

I use Horizon boxes to ship and it costed $81 dollars to ship 9.7 pounds (2 6 month old Legbar cockerels). The box was $22.50 so nearly $100 dollar to ship. Its very expensive. If you send the birds fairly young (3 months or so) it isnt as bad but shipping mature or near mature birds is very expensive. Especially Marans since they are a heavy breed.
