@chickenpolo
this cockerel has good and bad thing if you want to show him .but if you want to breed him is different story .
he ha a good head and comb .plus .
this copper could be more uniform and well spread to cover all his body .still young will color up more in the future .
his major problem is his tail .too big and too high . need to find pullets/hens with a good tails other wise he is going to produce too much culls .

photos of your pullets will help .
chooks man

Thanks Chooksman! I’m well pleased with them so far. I couldn’t ask for much more at this stage of their development. I should have a good idea of what I have to work with by end of this year.

Chooksman, I think it's angle and lighting. I seen him jump off the nest and go over and hop on roost. I could be wrong though. I usually am!

Well, Today was a bad day! We butchered My Blaze and 4 cockerels. So sad but he was so mean and just getting worse. Kind of heart broken about it but it had to be done.

I always have to let special birds sit in the freezer for a few months before i can even think of cooking it in the pot.
Something about knowing who it is....
Unless i cant tell them apart.☹

He was a good breeder but finally had enough of it. My husband was way more ready than I was for Blaze to be gone. Blaze was attacking every time someone entered the pen. Even without hens in his pen. I hope we get a couple good replacements.

SO SAD,
I Processed my # 1 cock last fall all so meaner than HELL, he threw some really nice chics. Got a nice cock out of him Arthur II he is not quite as mean, I have not ate him, yet! Hope to take him back over his daughters next spring. Arthur dressed out at 5.7lbs and ate just fine. Most of my cockerels dress out at 3.4-3.6 lbs. All ways meat in the freezer. I have alot of cockerels to choose from again this fall, probably Oct,Nov.
