International Black Copper Marans Thread - Breeding to the SOP

Great decision! :yesss:

What colours do you have in mind? Normal or bantam sized?

black and blue, large fowl. I plan to keep them together. I already have a blue pullet but she is at my friend's farm in north greece. my sebastopol geese, runner ducks and greek hooded/crested chickens are there as well. I do not have room to keep them here. and a friend of mine has an extra black cockerel (la fleche) so I will take him.

This is my very first purebred BCM I have hatched out. Should be laying any day now!

I am very curious to see them.

La Flèche are such a wonderful and rewarding breed, as in addition to their very tasty large eggs they provide juicy and very tasty white meat.

pullet line #1 has a correct body type ,proper marans shape .like brick { rectangular body type} you saying she is on small side .maybe late maturing type .
pullets line #2 look chunky . but we need side photo line pullet #1 .so can see the shape of the body type and the placement of the tail.

weather man got all wrong . was not wet and cool day tody .first hot day of the year .not extremely hot ,just normal hot summer day by OZ standard . so the chooks where not in the mood the pose for the camera . hiding in shrubs and bushes .

managed to make Khabib run larger ,doubled they space . the run now is 5 m X 20m . more grass for them . removed the 2 recessive white hens and replaced them with 2 splash copper dark eggs layer . 10 in total 8 splash and 2 Blue copper without hackle marking .

khabib is a happy boy . all these splash hens are large ,long and heavy . 3,3 kg small one ,3,7 kg large blue hen .
hope I manage to hatch few chicks from them .always wanted to have breeding pen full of splash marans variety .got it now after 7 years working with this breed . eggs color is good 5 lay dark 6 and other 5 hens lay #5 one with dots .

Line#1 might be late maturing because they are not really laying eggs yet, very few. Line#2 laying a lot.
