his wing do not look alright to me maybe just few feathers missing ,do you feel any old injury did not heal properly ?I finally got around to checking my cockerels wings. I dont think it's split wing?
he is old enough to behieve properly .He is a year and a half now
I noticed his wing didn't open as well as his other side, as if the joint was more stiff so it's possible he has had an injury, also some new flight feathers are coming in.his wing do not look alright to me maybe just few feathers missing ,do you feel any old injury did not heal properly ?

I'm in the Logan region, just south of Brisbane
Lots of copper coming in. They're looking good.My marans are just over 11 weeks old. They have been interrogated into my existing 6 month old mixed flock. They still act like 2 separate flocks most of the time. If the older birds are outside the little ones are usually in the coop and when the big ones go inside the little ones go outside. Everyone does go inside at sunset the older flock sleeps on the far south roost and the younger ones all to the far north.
The cockerels are making pretty poor attempts at crowing but haven’t found their voices yet. I have noticed some possible early attempts at mating. The cockerels will chase the pullets and sometimes grab them by the back of the neck but I haven’t seen them successfully mount them yet.
When I let them out to free range the still stay very close to the coop and run and don’t really explore much. We had a hawk fly over the other day while they were free ranging. My 6 month old leghorn mix cockerel saw it and alerted the rest. Most of them quickly ran under the coop but a few of the little ones couldn’t find the door to get back into the run. The hawk didn’t come down but did fly over a couple times. So I’ll probably not free range them without supervision any time soon.
Yes I was thinking a rooster or broody hen might work to train a pup from an early age NOT to mess with birdsmy german shepherd female never learned the lesson. her mother seems to understand she should not harm chickens/ducks/geese but I cannot trust her any more.
when my geese start laying and become aggressive I plan to put the naughty girl with them. this is the only way she can learn something. I will supervise it, of course.
