Very pretty boy you haveView attachment 3936738
He is checking out his future ladies. He is mating the 3 yr old "cougars" already since no older rooster to challenge him. I am trying to get recording of his crow
I imagine that’s what most BCM x duckwing Easter eggers look like. I’m going to make something similar with my whiting true blue rooster x black copper marans hens. I hope they’re not all black in the first generation.Your cockerel looks like he is a mix breed. Very likely an Olive Egger. My guess is OE based on the beard feathers and comb type. There is nothing wrong with OEs I have several myself. I’m only bringing it up because this is a breeding to SOP thread. If you intention is to breed him you will not get full blooded Marans. If your main goal is colored eggs he could make a great choice to these breed and see what you get.
We do play really loose with the SOP breeding in this thread. It’s littered with pictures of other breeds and cross breeds so please feel free to hang around. This is a pretty active thread filled with friendly and very knowledgeable members.
I had an OE that looked very similar to your cockerel. attached is a picture of him

Out of the 3 OEs I hatched I've only got 1 female. But the funny part is these are King x Esther...I imagine that’s what most BCM x duckwing Easter eggers look like. One of my marans had a similar reticulation pattern on her first eggs. Shes gone through stages where there will be perfect uniform reticulations to random speckles and now it’s a smooth solid color.I got my first FBCM egg today. I am so excited. I cannot really say for now where it is on the scale, but hopefully it will remain this dark. It is also small, hopefully by spring it will be regular size.
Mysteria laid it. Now waiting to see Maya and Gypsy's eggs( I am secretly hoping Gypsy would lay a dark olive egg).
Of the 9 I hatched I got 6 black and 3 blue. 2 of the blue ones came from a back cross BCM x blue colored OE. The blue with orange breast one I’m not sure on his exact mix but he was a good looking bird but didn’t fit into my long term goals and his attitude was not good enough to make any sort or side project around him.I imagine that’s what most BCM x duckwing Easter eggers look like. I believe WTB should be homozygous for the blue egg gene so all of his daughters will lay some form of blue or green egg. Mine were back crosses so they only get 50% chance of the gene. Of the 3 pullets that hatched this year 2 are confirmed brown layers. Still waiting on the thirdMy whiting true blue rooster does seem to have a blue base to him and barring so that might make for interesting looking OE offspring.
