snow bank? I have no idea what to do. I am NOT cutting off any heads.

If it's below zero, perhaps hold them in your hand outside? Personally, I'd say a lot of prayers, prob bawl & stay with them so that they would have to be alone as the go back home. (Because anyone who doesn't think chickens go to heaven is describing hell. Heaven is FULL of chickens.)

I don't like that idea....suffocation doesn't sound like a very humane way to go.... And yes, I realize the irony, considering my suggestion.
