Is anyone starting eggs in the incubator today? Tuesday, May 26

I also started eggs on May 26. We had a power failure on day 17.
The temp dropped to 91 and I moved them to friends house until the power came back on. I did not expect any to make it but 5 hatched last night and many more are pipping.

Well my broody hatched out all 4 of her eggs over the last several days. Wierd since they were all set on the same day. She has one NN cross that is the funniest looking bird I have seen yet. It is black with grey eyebrows and white whiskers on its chin. It is the first one that I have had hatch with white skin instead of slate. The kids have named it Furby. The other chicks are dark blue, a reddish brown striped, and a little all blonde one. Mutts can be so fun!

We gave the ducklings to another broody and she actually sat on them last night and then let them preen her all morning, but she is done with that now and skipped out on them and was wandering around the garage just now clucking.

I think the ducklings are just to squirmy and active compared to chicks and it wigs them out after awhile.

ok I had 1 pip during the day yesterday & by the time I went to bed last night I had another 2 pip & then I woke this morning to a lil chick just sitting there looking around like "what day is it?" too cute.

But the lawn bowling has started & I can't figure out if this chick was from the first egg that pipped or the 2nd or 3rd because the eggs have been moved all over the bater. I still see other's pipped but I'm not even sure if their the same or if their newly pipped.....

So hard to stay cool while this process is happening.....

Mom2chicksandpups are your eggs still rocking a bit? I've had it where they haven't started to pip until day 21 & then they'll all start going at the same time.

isn't it funny how there could be a power failure & they be without heat for a while & when you're thinking they're done for there they are hatching & yet let someone have the humidity go off & it kills them all???? LOL it's such a fine line that's being walked when we're hatching eggs. I'll tell you though I've seen my hens get up & take a break from sitting & not on a day when it was all that warm either.

Im at work now on my cell phone but I had no pips yet when I left this morning. My eggs were the first thing I thought of when I woke up. I took my dog out first because he was begging to go out then ran straight to the incubator. I was so disappointed. Its just day 21 but I cant help but to feel like I did something wrong. Maybe something will happen before I get off this afternoon.

ok here's a pic of the first one hatched in the bator. She actually picked her head up for the picture... LOL

You know I've had times when there's been an egg & some times more than one that has pipped & I've not seen it because it's the side facing away from the windows or the it's just not really noticable... When I check to see what's happening now I use a flash light to really look good. I wan't there while you were incubating but I've had hatches that would just start the pip on day 21. & when they do pip it could take hours.... for the zip & that too is just nerve wracking....
