Is it bad to put bigger duck breeds in with smaller breeds?

I really want to put my Pekin hens and one drake in with my runner ducks.
I’m a little worried that my big Pekin drake may drown the hens in the pond
when trying to mate.
Reminder-
*Im not using kiddie pools I’ve got a small pond*

I have a rouen drake with my runners and they do just fine. Granted he is not as big as a Pekin drake would be so then there is that. I am going to watch this thread to see what the others have to say.

My half pekin drake just killed my runner/KC hen. I wouldn't recommend without supervision. Seems I am still learning. I was watching in case he injured her. I didn't realize he could kill her.

I am so sorry too. That is sad. My big Muscovy drake pays no mine to the Runners and Buffs here. Thank goodness because the Runners decided to move into the big coop with the Muscovy and the chickens. They pretty much stick to their own group. I'll def have to watch when I set the big pool back up next year since my gander will mate with any duck if she gets in the pool with him.

It was awful. She was small but I had no idea that him mating her would kill her. Blood had run out her mouth. I felt her neck and it wasn't broken. Also ducks are necrophiliacs...

My drake is the largest. He is bigger than his ladies of the same breed and other breeds, not by much, but it's enough. The smallest ducks tend to have terrible feather condition because of him and are missing lots of feathers on their sides/backs where he places his feet when breeding. He hasn't actually injured them, but the do seem to take a beating sometimes, to the point that I give them some time on opposite sides of the fence.

Gees I guess I am lucky my runners are not getting beat up by my rouen drake. He is currently intrigued with the pekin females which are bigger than he is. It is quite comical.
