Is it fun to be in the snow and ice ?

I hate the cold.... but I love the seasons. I lived in Tn for 5 years and that was great. A little snow here and there and it never lasted long enough to shovel. Then on to Humble, TX....where I hated it! No seasons....hot, muggy and buggy! Sorry all you Texans! You can have it! Now, I'm in MI. Lots of cold and very cold wind. Have a winter storm watch for tonight and tomorrow. Like others said, it's nice inside looking out, but to go out and have to shovel and do chores, it just sucks!! I do admit, when the snow is falling in big huge flakes, it is so beautiful. When the trees are covered and glistening, it's just breath taking. I love being outdoors, but can't stand the cold. So, the winters are really long. I guess it's a love/hate relationship!

I can't imagine living where the seasons didn't really change. Fall and winter are my favorite times...and I love snow. My hubby doesn't like it because it makes cow chores harder, but I enjoy doing them in the snow....as long as it isn't a blizzard!

Ice sucks tho!!

Hey I understand from which you speak! I always admire the first Texans . The indians, they had to smear river mud and animal fat on themselves to keep the mosquitos and noseeums away! No wonder they were so mean! Then the settlers, They had no screens, no A/C and had the mean indians too! Im surprised anyone stayed here !

Thats when the ships were made of wood and the men were made of steel! As for the women, God bless them, They are responsible for settling Texas, if they had not came stayed, no man would have. but I digress.

Purple Chicken I completely agree with you! Cold has never stopped me from doing things, snow and wind might slow me down, but I'll get it done, ice and rain make life a bit harder, especially the ice. I don't like driving in ice, but bring on the snow and cold any day!!! Hot weather otoh, is awful yuck. Humidity kills me and any chance of going anywhere or doing anything other then what absolutely has to get done.

i'm from texas. the first time i saw snow i was in wash, dc. i grew up in houston, so was unfortunately used to lots of pollution. well, i was walking down the street in washington and all this soot starts falling on me. it was terrible. gray and flaky and getting all over me. i was disgusted. then i looked around to see the odd looks on everyone else's face and lo and behold, they were walking down the street like normal.

pause.

pause.

pause.

uh. SNOW. yeeha!

Snow??? Ice??? What are those?! It's been awhile since we had either of those and then it all melted in a few hours! I'd love to get about a foot of snow --course around here if the weather guys say it "Might" snow, there won't be a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk in a grocery store within 50 miles of here!! It's hilarious but it happens every single time!! would like to have snow though, even if I won't be able to enjoy it with a sandwich!!

I guess it all depends on you situation, if you a kid or you never have to leave the house in winter then yep, i guess it's fun. I lived in the mountains of Northeast PA from the day I was born until i was about 27.

I couldn't wait to move away from the cold, snow and ice. Driving 35 miles on hilly, curvy roads each way to work was miserable, having to drag yourself out into the cold to shovel your car out of the snow, defrost everything and then deal with the morons on the road who think that the snow has no effect on how their car handles so they keep trying to do 70 mph anyway.

the you have the potholes from all of the freezing and thawing, theres a joke in the snowbelt...we have two seasons...winter and construction, they spend all summer trying to patch up all the holes in the roads

Snow is bad, ice is much much worse, nothing like trying to walk across it, hoping you dont fall and break an elbow or something, driving...forget it, I did $6000 damage to my new car one time thanks to a layer of ice under the snow, the best brakes in the world arent going to keep you from going head on into the trees

Scrambled eggs: "around here if the weather guys say it "Might" snow, there won't be a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk in a grocery store within 50 miles of here!!"
thats hilarious and so true...everyone has to rush out and get bread, milk and eggs

theres a reason this holds true :
you know your from PA when :
You have an uncontrollable urge to buy bread and milk when you hear the word "snow."
You design your Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.
Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.
You owe more money on your snowmobile or John Deere than your car.
You know the four seasons: Winter, Still Winter, Almost Winter, and Construction.
As a kid you built snow forts and leaf piles that were taller than you were.
In 1976 The /Pennsylvania Highway Department/
(PHD, not Ph.D.) was short for /Pot Hole Department/.
Rumor had it that the skillful making of potholes was always
seeded with the means to develop more for next winter,
and to assure work in-between for the rest of the year.

However i did have fun in highschool ski club and buzzin around on snowmobiles but would i go back to living where it gets cold, snowy and icy.

It gets cold here in Northeast Florida but not for long, it's hard to explain to people but it's a very wet cold that just goes through layers of clothing, we have all this cold air blowing over all of this water and it chills you to the bone...but, no snow.

It did snow once here, before i lived here...about 1/2 " fell and shut down the city for 2 days

It's snowing here right now - We're suppose to get 12 inches and the wind is blowing.
It's almost a blizzard. Sooooo glad I don't have to work today.
I love snow, but I hate driving in it. Getting to and from work I've gone in the ditch twice, bucked three foot drifts and driven on the wrong side of the highway for 20 miles (because my side wasn't plowed yet-covered with 2 feet of snow).
I work in a hosital so I have to get to work.

I've also slept at the hospital waaaay too many times, because of snow storms.
