Is it stuck?

All were fertile and progressing the last candle which was day 16.

So...I went for it. Because the size of the hole was so large, but hadn't progressed in hours, I considered it stuck. Very slowly, I peeled away the shell. The inner membrane WAS detached and was (and still is in a couple places) stuck to the bird. As soon as I made the zip large enough, it pushed and the egg split, right in my hands. It seemed a bit chilly, so I ran it to the brooder and put it in.

One thing, there is a mess of stuff that seems to be hanging out of it's vent? I've seen this stuff in the bator after hatching, but don't remember ever seeing it attached. Almost felt like pulling it out, but didn't. Leave it be?

Hate handling the poor pathetic thing, but I ended up removing it from the brooder and putting it back in the incubator. The ones that had already hatched and dried were pecking at the pieces left stuck to it. Thing was getting beat up a bit. So...back in the bator until it has enough energy to move out of it's own way...

OOH, don't t ouch that, that's the yolk needs to be absorbed. I've had a few hatchmates pick it til it bleeds.
Better off in the bator til he looks more normal.

I had the exact same thing happen with one of my silkies this morning. It had a quarter size hole but did not seem able to maneuver at all. I have NEVER even attempted to help a chick and I'm fairly new at hatching. I kept thinking surely it will get out! Ugh, it did not and so I intervened. I took it out and got tweezers, I pinched little areas of the shell to crack it then it would easily break off. I kept the membrane moist with warm water and q tips. I was able to peel the membrane back carefully and slowly. I knew that if I saw blood anywhere to stop immediately! I was able to free our chick enough that it could get out on it's own! Yeah!!! I lost two because I believed so many that you should not intervene. I will not do that again! Best of luck!

Ok, didn't touch it. Another Turken just hatched, on it's own this time, and it also has that thingy hanging from it's rear end. It almost looks like an umbilical cord. It's just dragging it around all over the place in the bator. Pretty hideous

Great job! When that thingy dries out a bit, I usually cut them back so they don't trip on them.
Make sure it's dry, or else... blood.
