I'm in a similar situation. I have one egg left that was due to hatch on Saturday/Sunday. It's my last egg. After reading this thread and others I decided to break the shell open. The inner membrane is white. What should I do?

Take it off the wet paper towels, that actually chills them... and use a little bit of coconut oil, vaseline or antibiotic ointment to lube up the membrane and keep it moist...

Thanks, I will do that right now. i am worried and can't sleep. I won't be around to check on it through the day tomorrow.

Just put Vaseline on. The beak is located here (see picture). There was movement when I applied the Vaseline but no sound. I am worried now that I shouldn't have opened up the egg. It's just so overdue I wanted to give it a chance.

Looks like a lot of veins still, from what I can see... it's definitely not ready yet...

I may not be able to get online tomorrow, please tag WVduckchick if you need help... she is excellent at helping assists...

Thanks so much. I am glad you are on this late. I am headed in for a simple surgery in the early morning. I may need my kids to help this duckling along. Wondering why it is so much later than the rest of my ducklings?

@WVduckchick would love your advice also.

I am going to try and get a few hours of sleep. @CourtCalee I would love to get an update on your egg.
