I just came home to see this which I think is a good thing but the blob she's attached too is huge around what I'm assuming is the ambilical cord? Thoughts? She's peeping at me atleast but I can tell she's tired.

And I'm trying to figure out what she is. I don't remember my Perkins looking this color? We do have a female Rouen also but she has always laid blueish smaller eggs and this one was white. Cross breed or do some Pekin ducklings look like this?

Is the inside of the egg blackened? I don't think I have ever seen an unabsorbed yolk like that at all... I would lube all that up with antibiotic ointment and set her butt back inside the shell... and place in a small bowl or cup, so she sits still while that absorbs...

@casportpony any input???

Most white is recessive and can hide all different colors and patterns so when crossed with anything else you never know what you might get...

No it's got a little mucus and old blood but that's it. She seems like she's having a hard time breathing but I don't know if that's just because she's so new and adjusting still or worse. Time will tell. She's moving a little and I still here a peep now and then so hopefully the cup works. I've been wetting the yolk, I have no bacitracin on hand until the morning unfortunately.
