This is our “house chicken” Batman. Her siblings were gotten by a predator one night and she/he is the only one to survive. Since then she/he has become a member of the family choosing to live inside with us and refuses to sleep anywhere but in our bed or with the children. She and the dog share an eating area and they have become friends. She does outside chicken stuff during the day but as soon as we come inside or it gets dark she runs in after us and will hang out on our shoulder or on the sofa. She is the strangest chicken we have ever owned hahaha! She is a member of the family and we have been calling her a girl as her demeanor seems like that of a female, and at 3 months we have yet to hear any crowing sounds or see any other indications of being a boy. Was hoping to get some second opinions.

Is he/she a Wyandotte? I have a Silver Laced Wyandotte who many were convinced was a roo, but turns out she just developed her comb and wattle colors early. Not saying that’s the case with yours, but you never know. I’m including a picture of her at 12 weeks. Good luck!

Awe... they do look similar. I was told that mine is an Americana. I haven’t noticed any large or curled tail feathers and the saddle feathers look more rounded than pointy which was making me think girl, but I think that her comb looks more boy but it just started growing in a week or two ago at 3 months. I guess I will just have to wait and see!

That's a cockerel and as wonderful as your story is sadly one day he will grow up and want to be a daddy and needs to be around other chickens. Chickens need other chickens... that's why they are in "flocks" and not loners like say a wolverine. Also, roosters will likely start to challenge your family members (and other pets) and that will also be no fun. Not trying to be a debbie-downer here, just want you to be aware that like all animals- as this one grows to maturity it is going to change substantially.
