Rene is now 1 month old and the brahma Sallie is finally bigger than her! Just took these, so this is her in all her wonkiness right now. Ya'll can see still pretty naked in comparison but she's getting there.:)

They take forever to grow a tail! Your Spike though does take the cake on that one lol! I'm with ya on pullet,even though all the dang rules say boy.
My cockerel was tailess for the longest time! Looked like an Araucana then suddenly grew his tail.

I really think the OP has a pullet after looking at the pics of Spike growing up.

He looked so funny for so long! I'll add his temperament was ALL boy really early. No mistaking this was a roo to be.

At a week he'd get tall to look around, and track your hand across the brooder. At 4 weeks he started to ignore treats in my hand and bite me. He's grown up well but I was really careful with him after that, took much advice here and still avoid startling him. He's nice but a little reactive. He had a big pink comb before 7 weeks as you see. Heres a 7wk pullet he came with to compare.

She's beautiful! Huh? Spike dosen't look like a biter, but neither did mine. I had one that loved to bite startled or not. Negan bit for about a week and Cookie has never bitten. They are weird birds.:)

They really are! I love mine though. He's a good guy now, lives cooped with a LF cochin rooster and 28 girls. They do not and have never fought. They split up guarding areas. They supervise each other covering the hens and if one is really upset about it the other will walk away. So far anyway(knocking on wood!).

@Ruralhideaway

your favs seems to have lightly feathered feet from the pictures, is that true or is just the pictures not showing the feet feathers? just curious.. not knocking them in any way, they're very pretty
They are hatchery birds, I'm not offended! Nor upset, they at least look like what they are so I'm pleased. All three have feathers down onto their toes but lightly feathered for sure yes.

They are hatchery birds...

That's interesting, mine are from a Cackle hatchery and have heavy feathered feet, which is pretty and works fine since they stay in a covered run, but I can see the lighter feathering working better for many people, where mud and snow are a concern.

okay, now I have to ask which hatchery!

I still want to know where ChickenObsession's came from too, I know I'm the probably the oddball but I like the funky salmon fav colors as well, I'd be half tempted to order some from Ideal just to see what I'd get... but we already have too many chickens :rolleyes:
