Gorgeous birds, everyone!!!! Thanks for sharing! It is so interesting seeing all this variety in what is supposed to be a pretty standard bird!

I'm very curious to understand why....does anyone know anything about genetics here? I'm just starting to learn.

I have no doubt in my mind my Vera is a pullet.

She's 10.5 weeks old and she's just the sweetest little girl, always willing to let me cuddle her but with a shy, gentle nature. She is a little chatterbox, like others have said of their pullets, and though she's shy she has a couple of great friends in our large flock - her besties are Mischka the Spangled Russian Orloff who is also a little sweetheart but much more curious, and Gilda the Easter Egger who is a bold and sassy leader. They make for an interesting crew together! I seriously think I might need to rename Mischka as Alice and Gilda as Flo! Haha

Not to any great depth, but Salmon Faverolles are basically Wheaten (EWhEWh) based birds, with the silver (SS) , and are generally said to have Mahogany (MhMh)

... although something I read seemed to suggest there was some dispute about the Mahogany gene , but it was unclear if they were talking about "Salmon" coloring in general or in Faverolles... but I think most would say that the salmon color in salmon favs comes from the Mahogany gene.

And then in one of the threads that showed a hen with extra color like Vera, one of the genetics experts suggested that it would come from the lack of one copy of the Melanotic gene (Mlmi), but I wonder if Vera lack two copies? I really dig the contrast and her dark lacing.

I can certainly see your EE saying: "kiss my grits"!

I will get a pic of my hen and rooster know that they are older, my hen currently has no beard, it got pecked out by the others(non faverolles) when she was coming into feather. they are just now around 7/8 months old. I also have there chicks they hatched out this year. I got two pure pullets( i gave away 2 little roosters) and my faverolles rooster is also daddy to 4 other chicks that are mixed with american gamefowl that are freaking adorable

Oh wow that had to have been subconscious!!! She's TOTALLY Vera!! Especially now that she has Chestnut coloured "hair" and is so quirky! Haha but especially her pretty blue grey eyes....which got me thinking....wait a minute, she has blue grey eyes?!? Ummm.....aren't Salmon Faverolles supposed to have red bay eyes?? In fact, are any chickens even supposed to have blue grey eyes???
