I thought since it appeared to be something very wrong it was an emergency, injury. I apologize to you if I put it in the wrong place. I figured if I neede to cull it should be done soon. In my eyes, that is an emergency.

I don't have either but I do keep yogurt on hand now. I took the 3 out of the bator today and into a brooder. It will swallow when I dunk its beak and has taken a few bites of starter. I did see it stand but it propped itself on the waterer. It stood for about 10 seconds and down it went. I'm gonna give it a few more days to see if there is any more imrovement. I think the attempt to stand was an improvement. The stroke idea sounds very possible and so does the anemia. I have some powdered baby formula. i'll check to see if it doesn't have iron. I'll try to get the polyvisol. How much should I give it? Never had to before.

I agree- sometimes if they bleed too much it makes them weak and they need extra time to build strength. Sometimes they make it and sometimes they don't. Poor little one... I just wanted to cuddle him. T

do try and get some of the Poly-vi-sol..give 2 drops on beak for 3-4 days, then 1 drop for a week..the vitamin B's in the vitamin mix can be very helpful with these type problems, and the foot.
do you have chick vitamins?
a little sugar in the water might help.

as someone suggested...a little wet mash fed held to the chicks beak..or dipped, might help..also some soft scrambled egg hand fed sometimes helps.

good luck.

First of all, thanks for putting this thread in the right place.

I took a couple of pics. It is eating but not drinking much on its own. Not because it's too weak, I don't think. It just doesn't go to the waterer although I showed it where it is and I moved it closer. Both food and water are under the light. It didn't want the wet mash at all. I think I wore it all. I did get water down it. 2 eye dropper fulls. It is eating the starter. It can stand if supported but with no support it can't. My little chickie needs a wheelchair. I bet I cam come up with something out of some old hotwheel cars. lol Mean while. here are the pics.

I just barely supported it. It was mostly leaning on my thumb

This it wasn't leaning at all. I slowly moved my hand and it went down. Take a look at its feet. The positioning of its toes. It gets around the brooder on its elbows or leans on something to stand.

The chick on the right was walking up to it, and notice in the next pic how it is leaning on the chick on the right. It also uses its wings to balance itself.

One more thing I noted is when it poops its very watery. That was before I got it to eat and after I gave it all that water. But just minutes afterwards.
I can't get the vitamins until monday.

so sad

I hate to see anything that way. In my experience any bird that hatches out and cant stand right in a day or two never is "right" I'm afraid that you will need to cull. any birds that I have hatched out that have curled feet or kind of lopsided neck have been culled sooner or later. I have tried to save them, but they never grow out of it. so sorry

could be just weakness...

could be slipped tendon...

could be straddle leg:...

don't pour water down the throat.
give by drops on beak..keep well hydrated.
keep food easy to reach or help it to eat..
keep warm.

please..do get the Poly-vi-sol...the chick needs the B Vitamins....ASAP.
also the E.

if you have human vitamin B complex..you can crush up 1/2 a tablet and add to food each day if you can't get the Poly-vi-sol.

It's not either one of those. It's legs are straight and it looks normal as far as a slipped tendon. The closest Dollar General store is 6 miles away. I'll go there tomorrow and check to see if they have the vitamins. IF not i'll have to wait another day when we go to the bigger town. We have to do our running in one trip if anyway possible. It's 19 miles 1 way to the city.

It's 19 miles 1 way to the city. And I placed the eye dropper to the side of it's beak and let a drop hold on to the end and it drank it on its own. It just can't stand to be able to drink out of the waterer in the brooder. So I have a little water and an eye dropper at the ready for a drink of water every now and again. For that sugar water. how many parts sugar and parts water? Do I heat it, boil it or just let it dissolve in warm water? I will do it right away but I want to do it right. Certain things get broke down if done wrong.
