Is this egg shrink wrapped?

I can't tell you how many baby chicks I've had to put the skin on there skulls back together because another hen attacked it. Not a duck. This was baby chickens. In fact I can show you one now where a baby Silkie has damage done to his head because of another hen got jeoulous and pecked at him. I'm just saying precautions should be taken.

Sorry your Birds have issues but in most cases it works out beautifully ......

Okay, I have both ducks and chickens that are bad mothers and have found quite a few dead chicks and ducklings. @chickens really , @Lacrystol 's flock doesn't have "issues", she just has some hens that aren't good mothers, just like I have some in my flock.

Exactly. My point was just to make new comers even old comers things can happen and precautions should be taken. Every flock is different. I have some GREAT mommies. But when another hen sees babies. Omg she goes CRAZY. Even with her own babies. I have to isolate her because she's a nasty hen same as some of my roosters. Man they can be just as bad. They don't want any other rooster taken over so they kill off anything even a duck. Not sure how he thinks a duck is going to take over a flock of chickens but in his mind he does.

Because someone else might find the information useful. Hopefully others reading this will learn that chickens can raise ducks, not all hens and ducks are good mothers, and that roosters can be dangerous to chicks.

Because even if you think you have a hen that has accepted the baby. Another hen or rooster could interfere and ruin the whole thing for her.

She accepted and is being a very good mother!

:clap

View attachment 1069840 View attachment 1069842 The one in the original post hatched last night! The one that pipped on the wrong end of the egg hasn't hatched yet. It was the first one to pip. Should I do something? The first photo is from last night and the second one is from this morning! 2 out of 5 so far.

Can you get a pic of that one, and how long has it been pipped?
