Thank you so much for the pictures! I didn't see any veins, the eggs looked more like "day 19". They were very solid & heavy feeling. Well, heavier than normal. lol, they are bantam eggs!Did they have blood vessels?
every time I hatch I use this picture to tell me how far along they should be. I’m a bit obsessive lol.View attachment 2959402
this is what they should look like when you candle them.
I haven't disturbed her at all. I went out & she was out on her own decision taking a dust bath. I went to get the eggs thinking she was done sitting on them. (Her & another hen have been fighting over & switching nests.) I only "disturbed" the egg that looked broken. This chick should be out of the shell by tomorrow, so put it back and don't disturb the broody hen anymore. She needs to be left alone and her eggs too.
Fighting over eggs and switching nests can be prevented by separating the broody hen.I haven't disturbed her at all. I went out & she was out on her own decision taking a dust bath. I went to get the eggs thinking she was done sitting on them. (Her & another hen have been fighting over & switching nests.) I only "disturbed" the egg that looked broken.
This is what had me thinking that in your excitement to watch them hatch you might disturb the broody and eggs during this very sensitive phase of incubation. It's exciting to know that I can watch some chicks hatch before too long.
Bantam eggs usually hatch 1-2 days earlier than normal sized eggs.Thank you so much for the pictures! I didn't see any veins, the eggs looked more like "day 19". They were very solid & heavy feeling. Well, heavier than normal. lol, they are bantam eggs!
