the roo isnt awful quality its just in his current condition he just cant get that he needs to look around at local ads and see wat other roos are going for and maybe go from there and paying for a whole flock and getting one bird is omgosh i couldnt even dream of it

I'm not saying roos aren't worth anything unless they won a show. I'm saying- heck- I can't even GIVE away Buff Orps & Standard Cochins. They aren't hatchery stock either. They are a dime a dozen this time of year. It will cost me more to keep them, and have to build a whole new coop just for roosters. It SAVES me money and time to give them away. Especially if someone is willing to drive to get them.

If someone has a hard-to-find breed in your area, sure- charge for them. I'd pay for a salmon fav roo

i totally agree with HappyMtn my EE cockerel he was free my ameraucana being pure and from show stock i paid $10 for him i would of had to pay more if his feathers were in better shape he was in a breeding pen and he was really ratty looking but you have to look at comformation and type in a situation like that but ya i totally agree i give my BR cockerels away!!!

the pictures are not of great quality, he appears to have some brown in feathers, maybe dirt but he should have been cleaned up and have green only in his black feathers, I would aalso show his foot sole which should be white or pink. over all a nice bird, but how extensive was the damage to his but end and feathers , skin.

cannot see a close up of his comb front and side.

has he been bred and proven? doesnt say

If he were better represented in the ad, what shows did parents win , better photos from every angle he seems to have nice wattles but just cant see that comb.and more photos if I requested, I would pay 100.00 for him.

Great australorp show birds are extreamly hard to find and sweet tempered birds.

Might be a much better bird than what we are seeing here

here is a champion, this is a bantam, and tail sizes can vary , the standard is what to strive for

Can someone tell the poster of the CL ad that those feathers will GROW BACK?! Ok.. so the raccoon plucked them... I think they need to do more homework. Unless I am wrong and there was permanent damage done to the back end of the bird.

I think that's the thing being debated. If there was permanent damage to the tail...I mean, we can't tell from the photos ya know? Then again, Australorps aren't my thing..

Very true!

But people who pay that much for a bird generally want the bird proven or at least see the parent stock.
