Is this pigeon embryo alive

I am sorry for the lack of detail about this but yesterday a friend of mine gave me this pigeon egg as she knew I had an incubator. I went to candle it today to see when about it would hatch but I am unsure whether it is dead or alive. Please could someone help ASAP. Here is picture of when I candled it, it does look like it has a dark spot the shape of an embryo an it looks quiet young
but I am not sure...

I don't know.....I breed pigeons and it's kind of hard to tell in a pic...but if you see veins then yes it definitely is alive. But I'd keep it in the incubator just in case.
It looks like an alive embryo.

I've heard it's impossible/cruel to try to raise pigeons without a hen to care for them. They always die

No it's possible, you just need a special syringe and baby bird formula.

My friend rescued it after their next door neighbour chopped down a tree. They took the egg because the pigeon parents left. They gave it to me because I was the only person they knew who had an incubator and experience with birds.
I've never looked after a pigeon so I am doing some thorough research and I have ordered kaytee exact bird formula for the chick if he hatches, which will be syringe fed. I have a small bird cage where my budgies used to live, which will be a temporary housing space for it. But unfortunately the best option for the welfare of the pigeon would be to give it to a rescue. I've never given any animal to a rescue because I know when I go to buy a pet, that I'm making the right choice but this pigeon came to me unexpectedly so it is probably the best option for me to give it to a rescue. I have no experience with pigeons and I think it would be the best if he went to a rescue, where he would be looked after better.

I don't know if your going to be able to part with him if he hatches, I think baby pigeons are adorable! Some people think they are ugly and some people call pigeons flying rats! I think pigeons are pretty!
Oh yeah.....that reminds me....I need to band a baby today and I have an egg that's going to hatch soon. It's crazy how pigeons reproduce!

I know I get so easily attached, I once cried after my fish died . It is going to be so so so hard to let him go. Apparently, the first person thing to give a squab (baby pigeon) their food, the pigeon immediately become attached to them, which is another thing I should consider. I might end up keeping the little chick if that happens I will need to have the housing for it, which I'm not prepared for. Do you know any good housing for pigeons because that's one thing good isn't not good at
