I have both, and mine get nothing but 27% turkey starter. The breeds are Muscovy and a mallard type duck.
I'd feed Chick starter and mix in Peas and cracked wheat..The breeds are Muscovy and a mallard type duck.
That's a good thing..I used to feed my ducklings chick starter but I think they were a bit slower to grow. I can’t really remember.
Muscovies tend to grow slower - if that is what you had before - that could be why.I used to feed my ducklings chick starter but I think they were a bit slower to grow. I can’t really remember.
The higher protein will make them grow faster, that's for sure. The chick starter from the company that makes your turkey starter says it's okay for ducklings, so if you are worried about the protein, just get a bag of it:I used to feed my ducklings chick starter but I think they were a bit slower to grow. I did an experiment with Muscovies in the brooder being fed 27% protein and a bunch of broody raised. The broody raised spent most of the day off foraging for bugs and what not and weren't all that interested in the feed I put out. The brooder raised ones grew twice as fast!Muscovies tend to grow slower - if that is what you had before - that could be why.
