Isa's Homestead Happenings and Hangout

I bought one of those a few months ago. You can twist and pull the agitator out to have more room to wash bulky items easier like comforters. It has been good so far. It is in there and I am in here, but I think maybe it is a Whirlpool if I remember correctly.
We bought one of those fancy schmancy (but cheap) smart washers with no agitator. We swore off having an agitator after our last one shredded one of my shirts. It got stuck around it, and I do not know what happened after that, except my shirt was ripped almost in half. 😒

It can happen, but it is rare.I think it would be most likely to happen when you go to unload it and the item is wrapped around it and you just yank the clothes out. A machine without an agitator doesn’t clean as well but they put less wear and tear on your clothing. They clean well enough as long as it is not heavily soiled or stained clothes. For heavy soiled you will do better with one with an agitator.
Front load washers naturally don’t have an agitator and they can get smelly because water settles in the bottom of the seal at the door. But if you clean the seal ever so often they do ok. You can can pull the rubber seal off quickly and easy enough if you know how to give it a good cleaning. They are held on by a metal band with a couple of small springs in it usually. You can also run a cycle of just water and bleach every so often as well to clean it.
This new top load with removable agitator like I said works good for bulky items with the agitator removed but it is also good for a gentler wash on lightly soiled clothing.
What the hell am I doing talking in depth about washing machines after midnight.
But here it is, and yes, it is a Whirlpool. It is the only brand I have seen with it, but I guess there could be others

We have a front loader and I'm not a fan. It cleans alright and doesn't stink but it did leak and we had to drill through the front to create an access panel to get to the filter to clean it out. We had no choice on the front loader because we had to stack the washer/dryer. I miss my old washer, not HE. The oldy but goody kind

The rule with me is that if an article is heavily soiled, it is first washed by hand to remove the worst of the ick. Then it is thrown on the "deep clean" cycle. Agitators are agitating. 😂
