All dogs can be aggressive; it's about how they are raised. If they are properly socialized, you shouldn't have any issues. Smaller dogs are usually responsible for more bites a year than larger breeds because people don't respect them because they are small. Maribelle detested little humans. They scared her because I didn't have any available to teach her about them. But she never bit. She would just hide. Eevee loves tiny humans. While I was carrying Maribelle at the park because she refused to walk, people would stop to love on her. While no one was looking, Eevee would climb up into strollers with unidentified Gremlins and check them over and clean their grubby little faces. There are working lines. They kill it with the sport of Earthdog.
I disagree with some of Colt's post. I've had 2 of them myself. One for 15 years.
They can be a bit aggressive. Mine were never aggressive to people or kids but I've seen it. One of mine had an aggressive streak with certain other dogs. Not the majority but with some. Little man syndrome.
My biggest peeve is they're the worst most stubborn dog I've had with house breaking. Horrible horrible.
Also of course they're a heartbreak breed with health issues when they get up there in age.
Never again will I put myself through that.
They can be a challenge to housebreak. Maribelle housebroke perfectly. Through no fault of her own, Eevee has never been completely housebroken. If you take her out every few hours, you're good. But if you're outside working with the birds for six hours on the weekend, you better be sure she's not got access to carpet. The excited tinkles stopped when they were about 3-4.
Maribelle's health issues were not due to her breed. Evelynn has never had any bad health issues related to the breed, either. She is horrible about jumping off the bed, which is much too high for her. She has tweaked her back a few times in the last couple of years. A day or two curled up on a heating pad, and she's right as rain. She still loves to play and run around in the yard and she just turned 14.
I still stand by that being the way they were raised.I’ve seen lots of aggressive ones. I was in and out of houses for 14 years as a repairman. Met lots of bad dogs and plenty were of the sausage variety.
Now Colt's love of the dachshunds is making sense to me.

Trip, I might need a throat punch. lol This will have to do for now.
