No, they are not aggressive.

Of course, they are most commonly kept as pets, but if I'm not mistaken, dachshunds are the only breed that can compete in all the AKC field trials. People definitely breed them for work so lines should be available. I mean, the long-haired variety (like the poodle) were bred for retrieval in the water. I wouldn't get my long-haired minis to go fetch ducks, but they are excellent little retrievers. Maribelle used to bring me baby chinchillas when they escaped their cage. And they were both excellent with other small animals and poultry.

There are working lines. They kill it with the sport of Earthdog.

I disagree with some of Colt's post. I've had 2 of them myself. One for 15 years.
They can be a bit aggressive. Mine were never aggressive to people or kids but I've seen it. One of mine had an aggressive streak with certain other dogs. Not the majority but with some. Little man syndrome.
My biggest peeve is they're the worst most stubborn dog I've had with house breaking. Horrible horrible.
Also of course they're a heartbreak breed with health issues when they get up there in age.
Never again will I put myself through that.

No, they are not aggressive.

I’ve seen lots of aggressive ones. I was in and out of houses for 14 years as a repairman. Met lots of bad dogs and plenty were of the sausage variety.
