With everything going on in the world right now, this would be the year that I hatch my first show quality pullet. When everything is canceled or postponed or plain shut down.

You know what though? She wins a blue ribbon anyways, for being the result of 4 years worth of selective breeding. Looking at what the breed traits are, joining up with folks experienced in the breed and in her variety. Hatching lot's and culling heavy, while training my eye.

Her variety, Black Silver Marans, isn't recognized yet so she couldn't have placed that high at a show anyways.

I need to get her onto the scale, she's hefty!

She's only just at 6 months old, if I remember her hatch date correctly. I'm expecting an egg soon and am anxiously awaiting the color. I've been selecting for type, egg color and size. As well as feather quality. It took lot's of hatching and growing out, to get a bird like her. 4 years to get to her.
