I am so excited ... We just haven't been successful with the incubator yet and I'm really bummed ....

But things might be looking up - one of our Silkies has gone broody!

She has been at it for about 5 days now and has at least eight eggs under her! The funny thing is that only one of the eggs is a Silkie egg and the rest are from our hamburgs. I thought she ditched them yesterday as she was out strolling around for quite some time but she's at it again. So cool!

Good to know. It has been cooler the past couple of days and I haven't seen much of her. We tried giving her some of the treats we gave the other chickens but she wasn't having it. I wanted to move her so bad last night to find out how many eggs she's sitting on now but she kind of chirped at me so I just left her alone.

Blackie got off the nest while we were outside today so the kids quick grabbed the eggs and candled them. I think she's got fourteen eggs that she's sitting on now and all but one have veining. Oh my!
