IT HAPPENED!!!

awwww Blackie is so cute! Mine roll them around under them too before they lay. It is funny watching them scoot them underneath them, then lift up a bit, roll them around some and settle back down. LOL I just took mine out from their fav box to see if they still choose that one or go in the other 2. Well lately Nugget has been in the fav box and Hummer in the box that had only been used once up till the last week or so... LOL

I love that you are doing fake egg experiments hahaha. Gosh, I also really do love watching them put the ceramic eggs "just so" when they are getting ready to lay. I think it is so dang precious I can hardly bear it. The younger girls peck at them and will throw them out when they are being bad teenagers in the coop... but I dont mind because I'm hoping it's teaching them that nothing yummy comes from egg pecking...

wow what naughty younger girls! hopefully it teaches them early and they just think it is yucky when it comes to real eggs.

I will let you know how it goes and what they do. Thinking it won't change anything with the 2 that are already laying and who knows with the rest. LOL

fake eggs or not made no difference today. Nugget used her normal box and Hummer used her "new" normal box. LOL

Well Nugget was in there for 1.5 hrs so I went in and cleaned the poop boards while she was in there. She just hunkered down and was fine with me in there. So then I went out and figured I would open the box from the outside (it was about 1 hr 45 min-2 hrs since she went in) and think she jumped out when she heard me undo the first latch LOL but no egg in there........ so as I was talking to them I could see she wanted to go back in and she finally did. I thought for sure she was just headed back in to sit and was going to stop laying because she was going broody. But she went in and laid her egg and came right back out... it was on the small side too so not sure why she was taking so long! LOL especially not laying yesterday. If Hummer doesn't lay the day before (like yesterday) she is in the nest box by 7am to lay the day after she didn't lay. LOL today she was in before anyone even left the coop and she laid and was outside with everyone else about 5-10 min after the rest went out. haahaa.

Annabelle only went in the coop a few times today, mostly when Nugget was in laying (no notifications after nugget came out after she laid) and didn't go near the nest boxes really so maybe yesterday was a fluke for her. I checked her pelvic bones today to see and they may be a tiny bit further apart but they are still pretty close together.

They seem to be acting more normal today! Hoping that means it's going to get better each day... Moon and Blackie both went into the nest boxes for a moment today... still no eggs, but at least they are showing interest again? How were your fluffies today?

oh I am so glad they were more normal and showed an interest in the nest boxes again!!!!

They were good. Nugget didn't lay and didn't go in the box at all today not even for a ghost egg. So either she is figuring it out or she just wants to keep me on my toes. LOL Hummer laid and her eggs are finally up to 45-46g so still small but much bigger than the low to mid 30's they were. LOL Annabelle went in once but the small recording didn't show her near the nest box and when I peek in not too long after the recording she was already out of the coop. Marshmallow still hasn't really shown an interest in going into the coop during the day. LOL

Annabelle, you're killing me! I am so excited for her to lay and she's not even mine LOL. She's such a trickster.

Good to know that Hummer's eggs are getting bigger (at her own pace) Speedy was still laying tiny eggs before "the incident..."
