She is in the nest box this morning. She went in the one that Nugget always uses, guessing since Annabelle had just laid hers in there shortly before. Well a few min later Nugget came in and stared at her, then left. Then back in to wait and stare some more, then left again. Then right back in, but this time she went in the box next to Hummer. Lol. Now I am just waiting for them to be done to get the eggs
Update time, junior! Did they all lay???

LOL yes they all laid. :) Hummer went out of the box so I went out to go look, open the box and she is back in! I took out Nuggets egg from the other box and Hummer went back out so I grabbed those 2 eggs. Then she went back in!!!!! Was in for about another 30 min and left again. she only laid the 1 time guess maybe she missed the box haahaa So guessing she is just really slowing down? I have no clue. but just glad nothing is wrong since that egg was fine so I don't have to worry anymore.

I’ve heard the term but haven’t seen it first hand yet. Is it natural as in every chicken does it at their own leisure or more of a seasonal/annual thing like an animal shedding it’s coat?
Yes, and some take longer than others! My first chicken to start molting is the last to finish currently LOL. It's just their process of "out with the old in with the new" where they get healthy new feathers. It takes a lot out of them, so they slow down or stop laying during this time. It also takes a LOT of protein for them to grow the new feathers, which is why they will generally not lay (protein that would go to eggs goes to healthy feather production instead). It is generally an annual thing that happens for them. Most of my girls just averaged about 6 weeks from stop of lay to resuming lay.

Lol!!! Looks like they were having quite a good time in there. Marshmallow and Rosie are so big!
Not sure why the party in there but they seemed to be having fun. LOL They are all around the same size besides Hummer and Nugget that are a bit smaller. The only one missing in the pic is Itzy (the rooster) not sure why he didn't join the party. hahaaa. The blue Cochin in there next to (I believe) Marshmallow is Ditzy the pullet so she is smaller than Itzy is. :)
