One of my pullets laid her first egg today! 44 grams, and she even laid it in the nest box!



I hope I have bought my last dozen pale, bland, store eggs.

OH HOW EXCITING! and WOW a good size!!!!!!! One of mine is right around 44g and has been laying for a bit under 2 mo. What one laid for you? and I agree we need pics!!!!!!!!!!!

HAAHAA you are funny! I wish she laid today. I think you need to lie to your girls or you are going to have them on strike forever!!!!!!!! Annabelle I am sure is just going to keep playing with my emotions! But she keeps squatting for me! It has now been 3 days since the first squat (but she may have done it before but she doesn't always come up to me and it was crazy a few days before that so I didn't spend much time with them. So hard right now dealing with a puppy and the chickens since the puppy needs eyes on him 24/7 still! LOL

No way - I have faith in Annabelle! She's gonna do it... maybe tmw!!!

I totally understand the puppy situation... mine is 8 months old now, though! It's a good thing they are so cute because otherwise... . . . . Well, you know what would happen. (Kidding!)

what kind of puppy do you have? Mine turns 5 mo on the 18th (so he is about 4.5 mo). Most times he is good but I have to have him on a short leash when I let the chickens free range and it is getting harder to let them out while trying to keep him away from them (hoping he gets there and is good with them). And if I am in the coop or run he is into anything and everything he can find that he shouldn't have. LOL So most times I am talking to my girls (and Itzy) through the HWC when I am out with the puppy.

Glad you have faith in her....... not sur eI do. she has teased me so many times. LOL But I am hopeful it will be in the next couple weeks. LOL

He's a husky, and a really good boy... but he DOES want to eat the chickens, hahaha.

He is a Rottie. Friends of ours have a husky that is about 5.5 mo old and he has so much energy! Huskies are soo beautiful though!

Omg I love Rottweilers. Their faces are so sweet even as adults. Their big, giant, squishy faces I'm sure he will grow up to be better with your chickens than mine ever will be, LOL.

Soooo... I ordered 4 baby friends from Meyers to put with the little Chocolate Orpington (my daughter named her Peanut.) They won't be here until the 29th... but I got a Splash Laced Wyandotte, Splash Marans, BBS Ameraucana and a Green Queen. The 29th can't get here fast enough. Poor little Peanut gets lonely since the sickly Golden Comet died... so she hangs out with me or my daughter for most of the day

The 29th seems forever away but it was the first availability... sooooooo here's to baby chick snugglin'. I won't know until they arrive if the Ameraucana is blue, black or splash... but at the least, the marans will be splash. I'm so excited! Their line of Green Queens lay really cool eggs, too. Will post pics of their eggs... in... yanno... mid-2022

Please inform Annabelle that her prompt egg laying would be greatly appreciated. I think tomorrow was my guess for her... so she's gonna need to get on that, hahaha.

Zoingo and Blackie REALLY got me today. Zoingo went into all 6 nest boxes before choosing one... she spent 15 minutes in there scratching around to craft a perfect nest bowl.... and then hopped out. Blackie spent almost 10 minutes in a box also making a perfect nest bowl and hopped out. I just can't with these girls.

Oh how exciting though. They sound so close!!!! Hopefully really soon.

I can't wait to see pics of the new babies and all your eggs once your millions start laying. My eggs are kind of boring, would love a variety but I just love the feathered feet chickens so if I stick with those I have limited choices. Lol

As you should... they are 1000000% adorable. Your girls are the fluffiest balls of feathers I've ever seen. I tried to include a partridge cochin to my new chick order but they wouldn't hold one for 1 week, and the others weren't available the week before. booooooooooooooo

Editing this to say(confess): I definitely just emailed them like a psycho begging them to add the Partridge cochin to my order even though they already said no.
