Think today is the day!!!!!! Annabelle has been in the nest box for about 40 min. She is talking away!!!!!

editing to add. She got off after an hour. Hung out in the coop a bit while I waited patiently to check since I couldn't tell on the camera. She got out so I checked and nothing. Guessing just a trial run. But guess she is really close

OMG!!! Well remember last week, Dottie spent 45 mins making a perfect nest and didn't lay but laid her first egg early the next morning!!!! I can hardly wait to see Annabelle's first eggie! She is so ready now and doing all of the preparation/practice! :weeAlso... I love her little chatterbox self. Hahahahaha

Now I will agree it should be soon. I am so excited!!!!

She is so talkative. She walks around half the day doing that. Lol. Today was a bit louder. I could hear her in my house which where I was isn't super close to the coop. Lol

Annabelle has such a cute little personality... and how cute is her video picking around the nest material :love I'm just as excited to see her first egg as one of my own!!!

I just organized eggs from this past week in rows by chicken... Zoingo, Blackie, Speedy, Dottie, Brittany and Goldie. It makes me so happy to see eggs again... gonna need to make a breakfast casserole soon, though!!

wow that is a LOT of eggs for a week!!!!! From the 2nd to the 13th I got 18 eggs (think I have the right start date) so in 12 days which I guess isn't bad seeing as I only have the 2 laying right now. LOL Both girls took today off so my 2nd time getting no eggs since they both started laying. :( so sad. before it would be one laid when the other had a day off but they were laying 5-6 days in a row so it was easier to get it that way. Hummer is still doing her 2-3 in a row then day off, then 1 then day off but not a lot in a row yet. Can't wait to see how many Annabelle lays since her breed says 2-3 a week.

I LOVE breakfast casseroles! I have a few different ones that we make, we do it for dinner here and there especially once I get a good amt of eggs. or do a breakfast pizza. Thinking that will be on our list this week since I now have 18 eggs to eat up. LOL

It's good that they are still laying pretty regularly though, for this time of year! I have a rope light in my run on a timer that gives them 2 extra hours of light in the morning. Maybe that's why some of them are starting to lay even this late in the year? I installed the rope light on a timer after finding 2 of them standing out in the run in the darkness one morning before the sun came up LOL.

Yesssss... we also do it for dinner, sometimes! Maybe we should swap recipes to experiment :highfive:

wow on them being out in the darkness! think I would have done something too. But I thought I read a lot of pullets will still start laying around this time of year but some will hold off till the days get longer so your lights may help but could just be that they are ready? who knows. I am just happy to still be getting eggs right now. LOL and a decent amt for 2 laying.

works for me! :) Mine I must say are pretty boring though with eggs, meat, onions, peppers, bread...... nothing really too exciting. LOL

wow on them being out in the darkness
It was so funny because I had randomly woken up and went to get a drink... then thought I heard something out back. I had previously seen critters snooping around the coop/run on camera so I went to check on the girls. When I got out there... those 2 were just standing there like "ummmm it's dark out here... so..." :gig the next day before I had set up the rope light, there were 4 of them out in the darkness... thats when I decided to give them some light LOL

.....that time our recipes were actually identical. Hahahahahaha

Oh, I also meant to tell you that Brittany laid in a box today! Perhaps her precious egg being savaged made her change her thoughts on location. Someone laid a soft shell egg in the run today, too. Not sure who but I saw them all running around chasing eachother for bits of it :idunno zoingo took today off and so did Goldie... could have been anyone, really!
