IT HAPPENED!!!

Mine go in first thing to. And they wont lay if another bird is in the box. When there is 2 boxes. And then they will go lay in another spot If they cant get in the nesting box right when they want to.

I have 3 boxes. I have been lucky so far (only 2 laying right now) that they haven't laid anywhere else and just wait for the other one to be done. ONE time I think one couldn't wait so went in the box next to where the other was laying but that was it. the rest you see them come in and out of the coop impatiently waiting for the one in the box to be done or they peek their head in to see if they are still in there and then leave. LOL

Poor Annabelle has been in and out starting just after 7 until just after 8 (mostly in) then took a bit of a break and went back again around 8:30. one of the times she spent about a half our wandering around the coop. This last time she walked up to the box that Hummer is in and just stood looking at her. LOL

Probably so! Blackie will pace and scream the egg song if someone is in the box she wants... Moon would go in the coop and run patrol for 15 minutes running at anyone that came in to ensure she would be alone. Annabelle is probably just like... OMiGosh what is this feeling!?!?!

Hummer stood up and I could see that she has already laid her egg

We're happy you laid an egg, Hummer, but it's time to get a move on and get your butt outside... we wanna see an Annabelle egg today!!!

I feel like really you can do it whenever... I accidentally crushed my Nugget's first egg so her "first" is actually her 2nd... don't tell my daughter. LOL

This is the most exciting!! I'm refreshing feed like a crazy person... but I know it might be a while still before she comes out of the box!

Is it me or does that egg seem huge for a first??? 2 of my girls had a tiny blood streak on their first eggs, but they didn't seem as big as Annabelle's!
