IT HAPPENED!!!

So thinking maybe a soft molt that I am not really noticing?

I still think this is probably the case!

started my year with no eggs today which surprised me

Oh my goodness, what were these girls thinking... that's no way to start off the new year! How has your weather/temps been? Maybe they just celebrated too hard last night and needed today off

But Dec ended with 54 eggs

Well that's not bad at all! Even expecting more... for this time of year I think thats great. I am also interested to see when Hummer lays again. These girls are so tricky sometimes!

I realized the other day that Sunny hasn't laid and egg since the 23rd of December. Everyone else has been consistently normal (and none from Blackie since she's doing the momma thing), but Sunny surprised me... she already did her molt. She's not broody... no idea here. She's also eating, drinking, digesting and roosting normally. We will see, I guess!

I'm so proud of Broody Blackie. I also can't believe we have to wait 3 more weeks... but I have anxiety about them having hatching issues so maybe the extra time to plan is good LOL

And yes! The WH are expected around the 22nd, Cayugas on the 24th!

I am sure if there are any hatching issues you will do great. You sound like you have done LOTS of research.

Our temps have been ALL over the place. Today was low 50's I think? the other day in the 30's some mornings in the low 20's...... LOL I am going to bet by 6am either Nugget or Annabelle are jumping off the roost to head to the nest box (most likely Annabelle but Nugget has been known to surprise me).

I am happy with the amt of eggs for this time of year.

Think now Sunny and Hummer are talking..... hmmm not good if yours are listening to mine. haahaa. strange that she has already molted and just isn't laying again.

and odd I haven't noticed Itzy mating with anyone besides Annabelle lately. not saying he isn't just that he hasn't been caught in the act besides with her. And I can't tell a fertile egg from a fertilized egg by the bullseye since there is only a slight difference from what I have seen people post so I don't even try. LOL

The weather really has been so crazy across the board, it seems. Christmas eve was 70° for us and Christmas was warm as well... today we got a light snow and tomorrow has a low of 4°!!! Maybe that is messing with them somehow?

And I can't tell a fertile egg from a fertilized egg by the bullseye since there is only a slight difference from what I have seen people post so I don't even try. LOL

If you crack any and want a 2nd opinion, feel free to post pics - maybe I can help! I have shamelessly looked at an excessive amount of pics comparing fertile vs infertile eggs lmao.

Maybe Annabelle is just Itzy's favorite? I heard that roos usually pick a fav, and Annabelle is pretty lovely.... . . .

Thank you I'm just so worried about missing something important and losing fully developed babies right at the end... or not doing something for them right to give them their best chance...

Look around and I can't find one. So another ghost egg after not having one forever? Or is she getting ready to stop? This is now 2 days with no egg from her.
