I had to work today so my husband shoveled out the covered part of the run and raked it over to cover any remaining snow. He said Itzy poked his head out then back in and made a lot of noise and then Annabelle peeked out and then they came out. haahaa! He also got the roof cleaned off and the HWC of the other section. He is definitely a keeper. And he got my cameras running (the GFI tripped so their water heater wasn't working either) so that I could see them. :) It was SOOOOOOOOO hard yesterday not being able to see them to be sure they were ok. I didn't think of the GFI since it still had a green light on.... now I know better. LOL

But they are all happy and doing well. so I am happy that we made it through that with no issues so far. and Hummer laid again today. :)
Awww I love this! I'm glad he worked so hard to get that done for you... and got your cameras back up - that's a good man!!!

How funny about Itzy inspecting the outside and then telling the girls. That's so cute hahaha

So happy that you all are doing well, I've been keeling you in my thoughts!

so of course when my cameras were down Annabelle did an "Annabelle" thing...... I thought she was going to lay yesterday and found no egg from her in the nest box. I glanced around the coop and run and didn't see anything but they were digging around the coop a lot before the got to go outside so who knows if it got buried or (hopefully not) eaten again..... I thought maybe it was just another lay one day off lay one.. instead of her lay 2 day off...... But there was no egg today and she didn't go in the nest box. Sun I couldn't see the nest boxes (either camera not working or pointed down too low) until about mid day so not sure what she did....... Maybe she is now taking a break? If she runs in the box first thing in the morning then I am guessing it is another disappearing egg from her (either in the run or buried in the coop or eaten......)

only got 45 eggs in Jan. 22 from Nugget, 19 from Annabelle and 4 from Hummer. Guess we see what Feb brings. I THINK Marshmallow and Rosie are really close to laying so who knows.

I just realized my freeloaders are going to be 10 mo on Tue! They best start earning their keep soon. LOL good thing they are cute since they are major freeloaders! haahaa. Ditzy best start laying soon so her eggs get big enough that I am comfortable trying to hatch some this year!

@MochaLatte do you mind me asking where you got your incubator and how much it was? Was it hard to figure out JIC none of mine go broody.

I got it on Amazon- it was like $150... here's the link. I did some research and it seemed the best for a reasonable price... some of them are SO expensive.

that's a great incubator @junior67! If you want to hatch eggs you should get that incubator!
Thanks! I am hoping one of my hens goes broody so that they do all the work and I don't have to but want a back up plan in case no one does. I have Cochins that I have heard are known to go broody and my SF while she hasn't gone broody I wouldn't be surprised if she does since she seems to like to hang out and sit in the nest box for hours when she lays an egg. LOL
