Do you take out the turning tray at lock down? Do you line the bottom with paper towel over the screen? Do you fill all the channels with water regardless of humidity level? Or do you go for the 60%-80% humidity? Once chicks are dry how often do you pull them out? 4 1/2 days and counting!!
Have seen pros and cons to each.
Leave it in and just take the crank out to avoid pinballing and/or rolling of eggs.
Toes can get caught under edges of tray.
Have done it both ways but also use my divider to keep my crosses separate.

No paper towel, it can inhibit air circulation for humidity and if it gets wet can cause chilling. You could put PT under the bottom mesh and sticking into the reservoirs to increase humidity(due to wet surface area)....might be too much humidity tho.
Some folks use shelf liner, the foamy stuff with holes.
I don't use anything with the Incuview.

I fill as needed by hygrometer reading and air cell status..
...probably need all 3 tho and added sponges once pips happen.
Can depend on how dry your house is.

I leave chicks in bator until they start getting too rowdy, then I remove them in groups of at least 2 at a time. I try to leave at least one in bator with pipped eggs as a cheering section.

@aart where did you get that divider material?
Joanne Fabrics....any crafty type store should have it.
Here's the label...will add to article too.

I take the turners out and put the eggs on top of the rubber shelf liner stuff that covers the whole bottom/floor of the bator.
I pull chicks out quicker than normal.

I candeled last night going into lockdown tonight. Man it goes by pretty quick! I ended up removing the 3 eggs i had in question from the original candel. Development had stopped.
So going into lock down here is where I stand:
Shipped eggs:
Black Jersey Giant
6 started- 3 made it to lockdown 50%
Delawares
8 started- 4 made it to lockdown 50%
Rhode Island Whites
4 Started- 4 made it to lockdown 100%
My own eggs:
9 Started- 8 made it to lockdown 88%

While it is disappointing to have loss as some of you may know the eggs sat around for 5 days after they arrived waiting for the incubator to get shipped. Also it is winter time which they were shipped in. So all in all I am very pleased with this first go around.
Only two of all the shipped eggs had no development at all. I would highly recommend the seller off of eBay that is located in New Jersey. If anyone wants more information about that seller just ask. I'll update again once I get some action going on in the incubator.
